Inmarsat applauds massive investment in UK space industry

The UK Chancellor recently announced that GBP 1.2 billion will be invested in the space industry over the next five years. One of the companies applauding this massive investment is the global mobile satellite communications services provider Inmarsat UK.

According to Rupert Pearce, CEO, Inmarsat, the UK Government has taken a laudable and strategic approach to the satellite communications industry. The massive investment will support innovation, stir growth, and foster the development of skills within the UK economy.

Mr. Pearce explained that the UK is one of the world’s leading innovators in satellite design and commercial applications. The space industry currently generates GBP 9 billion per year through voice, data, safety, and other satellite-delivered services.

For its part, Inmarsat will be spending $1.5 billion over the next two years to realize its Alphasat constellation and Global Xpress Ka-band satellite broadband services.
